Today’s approach to facial aging ordinarily includes the use of cosmetic injectables and fillers for management of deep folds and wrinkles as well as correction of lost volume. Dr. Mary Herte feels that your choice of a specific filler should be based upon using its best qualities to give you your best results. Her extensive experience with all of the semi-permanent fillers can benefit you in getting the most from your filler treatment experience.
Radiesse® is an injectable filler made up of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel carrier. This calcium substance is found naturally in our bodies already. Radiesse® is approved by the FDA for filling deep folds and wrinkles. Most commonly used to fill in and soften the naso-labial folds (the fold from nose to mouth), Radiesse® is an excellent choice for many other “off-label” uses.
Because Radiesse® has been shown to help your body restore collagen in your skin, it can act as an excellent scaffolding for supporting lax skin. Dr. Herte finds that Radiesse® is best used for support of creased skin along folds from nose to mouth and around the chin and corners of the mouth where skin structure is lacking. It can also be used to add volume to the cheekbones and chin.
Benefits include improved collagen production and structural firming of your skin, greater longevity of your result, larger volume in a single syringe (than hyaluronic acid fillers) for more correction per syringe, and FDA approval to mix the product directly with local anesthetic for a less painful injection experience.
Dr. Herte has found that Radiesse® may be present in the tissues for 2 years or more following injection treatment, although touch up correction may be required at 9-12 month intervals to maintain your appearance. As with other fillers, the more activity in the area corrected, the sooner the correction is lost.

For Your Safety
Dr. Herte uses only genuine brand name aesthetic injectables, FDA approved for use in the United States, and purchased directly through the manufacturer.
The Herte Center for Cosmetic Surgery adheres to the strict Nevada Department of Health safety guidelines for single use vials and safe injection practice. For your safety, Dr. Herte does not allow vial sharing: each “single use” vial is used only for a single patient treatment.
FDA approved injectables may be used on a case by case basis for treatment for conditions that have not been approved during the FDA approval process. Dr. Herte may recommend such “off-label” treatment to a specific patient based on evaluation of the individual situation but discussion of such treatment should not be considered promotion of off-label procedures.
