Home/Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)/Cost of Tummy Tuck Surgery

Many individuals struggle with excess abdominal skin and loosened muscles, with those concerns commonly caused by significant weight loss, pregnancy, and the natural aging process. Tummy tuck surgery is designed to address hanging skin and muscle weakness in the abdomen to create a more sculpted and slimmer physique. Also known as abdominoplasty, this procedure is a popular body contouring option for men and women alike.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Mary Herte, MD often performs tummy tuck surgery for her patients who are dissatisfied with the appearance of their midsection. A question she frequently receives during the consultation process is how much the procedure costs. Pricing can differ for each patient and for each procedure. In our practice, the treatment plan is tailored to your specific needs, anatomy and your aesthetic goals.

The term abdominoplasty or tummy tuck includes a wide range of procedures from mini tummy tuck to reconstructive abdominoplasty to panniculectomy (removal of just the skin and fatty apron). Sometimes just liposuction and C-section scar revision can achieve a nice abdominal improvement. This variability makes it impossible to identify a specific cost for your procedure without a full consultation.

Our complete abdominoplasty includes full repair of the abdominal musculature, skin removal, anterior liposuction contouring, reconstruction/remodeling of the belly button and at times repair of umbilical (or other) hernia. We do of course offer other options for those patients who have differing needs.

Abdominoplasty is considered by insurance carriers to be cosmetic surgery so it is not ordinarily an insurance-covered procedure.

To better understand why the price of a tummy tuck can vary so significantly, it can be helpful to know what is included in the total price. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)1, costs of the tummy tuck surgery may include:

When you are considering tummy tuck surgery, make sure that you are fully informed about what costs are included in the price proposal that you are given by your plastic surgeon. In our practice, we give a financial proposal that is global in nature and includes the above costs except any testing that is out of the ordinary, medical clearance needed for surgery and prescription medications.

Additionally, the ASPS explains that a surgeon’s fee for abdominoplasty can be based on experience, the type of procedure being performed, and the geographic location of the practice.

To help you budget for your procedure, our team will provide you with a personalized financial proposal for your surgery during your consultation. If you would like to break your total cost into smaller, more manageable monthly payments, we accept several financing options to help make your tummy tuck surgery a reality. We have also partnered with reputable third-party lenders who offer flexible and accessible payment plans for qualified applicants.
